"Personal Stories of the Para-Normal". "Mothman in 1968" ??

Back in late Spring of 1968, I enjoyed a fishing trip to Lake Cumberland with a few of my "older" friends that I worked with at a local factory when I was not attending college in early May.  We left on a Thursday late afternoon and returned late Sunday after catching only a few fish but had a good time.  Just before our arrival at about 8:00 PM, we were exhausted and had enjoyed a lot of beer on the ride there.  As we unloaded our "stuff & boat", I was exhilarated by the huge expanse and lake.  As I looked up at the beautiful evening sky, I was stunned as I saw a huge and amazing sight.  A bird-like creature was flying the expanse of the lake area and it was a visual treat.  This "thing" made several passes and each time it got closer to the water and I realized that it looked more like a man with wings.  I tried to point his out to my friend who was half drunk and exhausted but he was not interested.  I had enjoyed only a few beers earlier and was quite lucid and alert.  This "birdman" made pass after pass and appeared to somehow enjoy the fact that I was watching in awe.  He/It made pass after pass and appeared to "know/enjoy" that I was watching, mesmerized.  Finally, as darkness swallowed the sky, I left the dock area with incredible memories of what I had seen and experienced. It was not scary but almost beautiful-like in nature. A "Peak" experience!  What did I see and experience?  Could it have been a "Mothman-like" sighting? Was it somehow UFO related? or  Did I somehow have a hallucination?  I shall ALWAYS remember this incredible event!
